INTO MOROCCO’S SPIRITUAL CENTER
Upon arriving in Casablanca and enjoying a peaceful night’s rest, your adventure will commence in Fez. From your luxurious Riad, you’ll meet your local guide in the medina. Amidst ancient qur’anic schools, hidden leather tanneries, and donkeys transporting goods, you’ll discover the city’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. In the afternoon, embark on a souk tasting tour. Navigate through bustling alleyways to savor traditional fava bean soup (best with garlic oil and harissa), freshly baked bread from the community wood oven, sticky walnut-filled dates, and prickly pear fruits that turn your mouth a vibrant fuchsia pink. Feel free to try anything that catches your interest.
The next morning, you’ll visit a private drum-making workshop with local artisans who have perfected their craft, passed down through generations. You’ll learn about decorating, stretching drumheads, sewing, and how different hides affect the instrument’s sound. By the end, you might even have formed a percussion band.
WALKING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF EMPIRES
Leaving Fez, your journey takes you to the remarkably well-preserved archaeological site of Volubilis. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll wander through this 40-hectare Berber-Roman city, discovering everything from complete roads to intricate mosaics, as you trace the steps of its original builders. Afterward, savor a private Moroccan meal at the nearby Scorpion House, which offers breathtaking views of the hilltop town of Moulay Idriss, before you resume your drive.
MAKE THIS ITINERARY YOURS
Each and every Morocco Crafted Experience trip is tailored exactly to who you are and what you want to do so tell us about yourself and we’ll create something that’s entirely you.
a city dressed in blue
Upon reaching Chefchaouen, your gaze will be drawn to Morocco’s renowned ‘blue pearl’, nestled high in the Rif Mountains. After checking in at Dar Jasmine or a similar riad, you’ll enjoy an evening walk with your guide to dine with a local family in their home, offering an opportunity to converse, share a meal, and immerse yourself in local culture.
We believe the finest mornings start in medinas. Today, you’ll explore Chefchaouen’s charming cobbled streets and uneven steps adorned with vibrant plant pots. It’s incredibly blue and exceptionally beautiful.
You’ll then continue your journey, stopping for a leisurely afternoon hike to the stunning Akchour waterfalls (or opt for rock climbing if you’re feeling adventurous).
WHERE AFRICA MEETS EUROPE
Tangier has long been a haven for creative minds, attracting writers, artists, and musicians for years. Its relaxed cafe scene has lured figures like Paul Bowles, Tennessee Williams, The Rolling Stones, and Henri Matisse to its carefree shores at various times. For the next two nights, you’ll reside at Villa Mabrouka, the incredibly chic former residence of fashion legends Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, now reimagined by British designer Jasper Conran.
Accompanied by your guide, you’ll discover Tangier’s blend of cultural influences, where vibrant greens and blues contrast with whitewashed buildings, and both modern and traditional craftsmanship flourish. Where else can you find a vinyl record store nestled in the heart of an ancient medina? It’s quite unique (and the records are too).
The following morning, you’ll make your way through the bustling food market to a private cooking class with an amazing group of local women. By the end, you’ll not only have mastered the art of a perfectly spiced fish tagine and enjoyed a pot of Maghrebi mint tea—you’ll have also made new friends. Cooking truly has a way of bringing people together.
As for tomorrow, it’s time for a change of scenery as you start your journey to your final destination, with a brief stop to explore the seaside town of Asilah along the way.
THE ATLANTIC ESCAPE
They say to save the best for last, and La Fiermontina Ocean, nestled along the untamed coast of Larache, is exactly that. You’ll have three nights to enjoy everything at your own relaxed pace.
There’s much to occupy you, from enjoying breakfast in the nearby village of Dchier and horseback rides on the beach to indulging in traditional hammam scrubs and sunset picnics beneath mulberry trees. Or simply unwind in your private pool villa, with views of dunes stretching into the sea. The choice is yours.
One thing we must mention is that the views here are truly remarkable – from dawn to dusk and beyond. Our evening advice? Bundle up and gaze upwards. With minimal light pollution, the stargazing is exceptional. Truly.
You’ll find it hard to leave this place. But chances are, you’ll return before long.
